Please tell us a little about yourself:

I've been in coffee since 2015, I started to compete in 2017. I enjoy competing because it pushes me to become more knowledgeable in the process. I currently own a coffee shop and roastery in Pittsburgh USA. I come from a former coffee farming family but that because of bad prices and hardship they decided to sell the farm, the farms name is "finca La Marijuana" and its located in Minas de Oro, Comayagua, Honduras. even though the farm is no longer in my family, coffee found a way to keep us in through another avenue of the coffee industry.

I didn't like coffee until I got married and my wife made me buy a coffee maker and that's how it started. On a trip to our neighboring country Guatemala, I had a coffee that changed my life. To this day don't know if it was actually a good coffee, all i know is that it created a moment for me, and I've been trying to create moments like that for others ever since.

Fun Facts: I lived in India for a year, where I worked with Adivasi tribes to produce specialty coffee. also, before coffee I built recording studios, installed window curtains and washed sofas.

I was the first AST and First Q grader instructor In Honduras.

I live in the US with an E2 visa.

My nickname is "el gringo"

I was once a very good Futbol and chess player.

What are you excited to do while you visit Brussels?

To eat! and to see the historic areas.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I don't have any really, I've tried to get hobbies but I lose interest very fast.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?

My family for supporting me, especially my wife who has always given me the inspiration, my coffee community in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh currently has two central american national champions and it has been because of the support we had had. Paulo Melendez and his wife Stephanie who have helped me train and joe burns as well.

My business partner Dylan, and my friend Jorge Amador who has pushed me to train over and over again.
